Making copper sulfate crystals

Apparatus needed:

Steps:

  • CuSO4

  • distilled water

  • beaker

  • heating device

  • a stick

  • woolen yarn

  • filter paper

  1. put 150 ml of distilled water in a beaker

  2. put 90 g of CuSO4 to the beaker

  3. heat the solution using a heating device up to 80 degrees Celsius and melt CuSO4

  4. place a wooden stick tied with yarn over the beaker

  5. cover the beaker with a filter paper

  6. leave it for a week

Conclusion: Pure solids can be precipitated using solubility differences depending on temperature.
